THEME:
“Human Rights: Our Everyday Essentials”
Aim :
To create awareness among students about the importance of human rights and to promote values of equality, dignity, justice, liberty and social responsibility.
Objectives :
1. To introduce students to the concept, evolution and importance of human rights.
2. To create awareness on constitutional rights, fundamental freedoms and legal safeguards.
3. To develop attitudes of tolerance, equality, respect and non-discrimination among students.
4. To sensitize students towards social injustice, gender issues, exploitation and human rights violations.
Brief Report :
As per the instructions of the Principal, Dr.K. VijayaBabu, and in accordance with the academic calendar, the International “Human Rights Day” programme was conducted by the Department of Political Science. The programme was presided over by the In-charge Principal, M. Malleswara Rao, who emphasized that everyone should have awareness of their rights.
The chief guest of the programme, T. Srinivasa Rao,Highcourt Advocate explained the importance of human rights and related laws.
Later, the special guest, Ambati Jaya, a psychologist, spoke about women’s rights and protection.
An awareness rally and a pledge, Poster Presentation on human rights were also conducted.
In-charge Principal M. Malleswara Rao, IQAC Coordinator Dr. G. Srinivasa Rao, Political Science faculty Dharavathu Malleswara Rao, other faculty members M. Usharani, K. Indira Kumari, B. Raju, P. Yedukondalu, and M. Vijaya Krishna, Non Teaching staff and students participated in this programme.
Outcomes of the Programme:
1.Students gained a better understanding of human rights and their relevance in daily life.
2. Increased awareness on gender equality, child rights, social equity and anti-discrimination values.
3. Strengthened civic responsibility, empathy and social sensitivity among students.
4. Students pledged to contribute to a safe, inclusive and respectful campus environment.
