NSS Unit – Awareness Programme Report

As per the Instructions of the Principal Dr.K.Vijaya babu, and in accordance with the Academic Calendar, The NSS Unit of Government Degree College, Kamavarapukota organized an Awareness Programme on the Usage of Antibiotics on 24th November 2025 at the college Seminar Hall. The programme was conducted under the chairmanship of Sri M. Malleswara Rao, In-charge Principal.

The programme was graced by Dr. Bi Bi Jhon, who attended as the Chief Guest and delivered an insightful talk on the scientific and responsible use of antibiotics. He explained the dangers of self-medication, antibiotic resistance, misuse of drugs, and the importance of consulting qualified medical professionals before taking antibiotics. He also stressed the need for public awareness to prevent antibiotic-resistant infections.

The event was organized by Dr. G. Srinivasa Rao, NSS Programme Officer. NSS volunteers arranged a poster presentation, showcasing creative posters highlighting:

Correct usage of antibiotics

Harmful effects of misuse

Importance of completing prescribed dosage

Consequences of antibiotic resistance

Teaching staff, non-teaching staff, and a large number of students actively participated and interacted with the resource person. Their involvement made the programme more meaningful and informative.

Outcomes of the Programme

1. Students understood the correct and safe usage of antibiotics.

2. Participants learned about the dangers of antibiotic misuse and self-medication.

3. Awareness was created on antibiotic resistance and its long-term impact on public health.

4. NSS volunteers gained confidence in creating health awareness through poster presentations.

5. The programme encouraged students to become responsible health ambassadors in their families and communities.

6. Staff and students developed a better understanding of preventive healthcare practices.
