 World Ozone Day

As per the Instructions of the Principal Dr.K.Vijaya Babu sir and in accordance with the Academic Calendar, Government Degree College, Kamavarapukota observed World Ozone Day on 16 September 2026 to create awareness among students about the importance of the ozone layer and the need for its protection. The programme was organized jointly by the Department of Chemistry and NSS Unit.

Programme Proceedings

The programme was conducted under the guidance of Dr. M. Madhu, In-charge Principal and Lecturer in Chemistry. Dr. G. Srinivasa Rao, NSS Programme Officer, coordinated the programme along with the Department of Chemistry and NSS volunteers.

The significance of World Ozone Day was explained to the students. The speakers highlighted the role of the ozone layer in protecting life on Earth from harmful ultraviolet radiation. The students were also made aware of ozone-depleting substances, environmental pollution and the importance of adopting eco-friendly practices.

Students’ Participation

Students actively participated in the programme and delivered speeches on the importance of the ozone layer, ozone depletion and environmental protection. Their presentations helped create awareness about individual responsibility towards protecting the environment.

All Staff members and NSS volunteers actively participated in the programme and encouraged students to contribute towards environmental conservation.

Outcomes

The programme helped students to:

Understand the importance of the ozone layer.

Learn about the causes and effects of ozone depletion.

Develop awareness about environmental protection.

Recognize the importance of reducing activities that harm the ozone layer.

Encourage eco-friendly practices and environmental responsibility.

Conclusion

The World Ozone Day programme was informative and purposeful. It created awareness among students and NSS volunteers about the importance of protecting the ozone layer and maintaining environmental balance. The programme concluded with a commitment to adopt environmentally responsible practices and contribute towards a cleaner, healthier and sustainable planet.
