 Health Awareness Programme 

As per the instructions of our Principal Dr.K.Vijaya Babu sir and in accordance with the Academic Calendar, Health Awareness Programme was organized at Government Degree College, Kamavarapukota on 08-09-2026 with the objective of creating awareness among students and staff about HIV/AIDS, its causes, modes of transmission, prevention and the importance of maintaining a healthy and responsible lifestyle.

The programme was conducted under the leadership of Dr. M. Madhu, In-charge Principal, with the coordination of Dr. G. Srinivasa Rao, NSS Programme Officer. NGO members Sri Suvarna Raju and Smt. Mallika participated as resource persons and interacted with the students.

Aims of the Programme

To create awareness among students about HIV/AIDS and its impact on individuals and society.

To educate students about the causes and modes of transmission of HIV.

To promote awareness about preventive measures and healthy practices.

To dispel myths and misconceptions related to HIV/AIDS.

To encourage students to develop a responsible and positive attitude towards people living with HIV/AIDS.

To promote the importance of early testing, counselling and appropriate medical support.

To encourage students to act as ambassadors of AIDS awareness in their families and communities.

Programme Proceedings

Dr. M. Madhu, In-charge Principal, presided over the programme and emphasized the importance of health awareness among young people. Dr. G. Srinivasa Rao, NSS Programme Officer, explained the role of NSS volunteers and students in spreading awareness about HIV/AIDS.

The NGO representatives, Sri Suvarna Raju and Smt. Mallika, provided informative guidance on HIV/AIDS, including its transmission, prevention, treatment and the importance of avoiding discrimination against people living with HIV. They also clarified common misconceptions and encouraged students to share correct information with others.

Teaching staff, non-teaching staff and students actively participated in the programme.

Outcomes of the Programme

Students gained better knowledge about HIV/AIDS and its prevention.

Awareness was created about the actual modes of HIV transmission and ways through which it does not spread.

Students understood the importance of safe and responsible health practices.

Misconceptions and stigma associated with HIV/AIDS were addressed.

Students were motivated to spread scientifically accurate information in their communities.

The programme encouraged a supportive and non-discriminatory attitude towards people living with HIV/AIDS.

Students understood the importance of counselling, testing and timely medical guidance.

Conclusion

The AIDS Awareness Programme was informative and beneficial to the students and staff of the college. The interaction with the NGO representatives helped the participants understand HIV/AIDS in a scientific and practical manner. The programme successfully promoted awareness, prevention, compassion and social responsibility among the students.
